Emissary Capital

Emissary Capital is a boutique investment firm focusing on Southeast Asia. The team is made up of current and ex-founders that have built sizeable businesses throughout the region. This unique expertise is what sets the firm apart from other capital managers and gives us a competitive edge in sourcing deals and generating returns.

Investment Strategy

The firm utilises an active management investment strategy to drive value creation at the investee level. This incorporates its own unique infrastructure and skillets that allows it to effectively create value where most firms could not. The firm focus on operational factors, knowledge transfer and strong execution to generate returns for investors.

Investors in Emissary Capital's funds believe that great investing and strong returns are a product of a firms ability to work with its investees to actively engineer value. They are looking for a partner that has the resources, expertise and network to do that on their behalf.

The teams valuation ideology focuses on a fundamental analysis methodology along with a deep understanding of market dynamics, unit economics and the the operations of an investment.

Erman Akinci

Juhn Teo is a serial entrepreneur who has started and operated numerous businesses in real estate, tech, F&B and sports. His latest start-ups include Common Ground (one of SE Asia’s prominent coworking brands), LifeJuice (Malaysia and Indonesia's largest cold pressed juice brand) and Jungle Bunnies (SE Asia’s leading supplier of astroturf sports venues and operator of football leagues). He was previously the CEO of Tower Real Estate Investment Trust, a public listed REIT on the Main Board of the KLSE, after serving as Head of Property Investment at Guocoland Malaysia.

Mr. Teo holds a Master of Business Administration from Vlerick-Peking University and a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Western Australia.

He is an Endeavor Entrepreneur and a judge on Endeavor’s Local Selection Panel.

Erman Akinci

Erman Akinci has had a 15 year career in technology investment. As the director of business development at the highly acclaimed Catcha Group, Erman over saw the firms minority investment division. He also drove several of the firms venture building initiatives including building and structuring the ASX listed Ensogo business. He was also key to the structuring of ASX listed Carsaleasia.com.

After leaving Catcha, Erman went on to establish his own investment firm who's portfolio includes; Common Ground – Malaysia's leading co-working business and Monumental Studios a regional Media investment firm.

Erman holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern.

Syed Khalil Ibrahim

Syed Khalil Ibrahim has extensive investment experience over a broad range of industries. He is the Managing Director and controlling shareholder of SISMA. He is also currently a Director at ASX listed, iCARASIA LTD, which operates the leading digital car portals in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Previously he was Head of Corporate Finance, Strategy and Planning at Malaysian Listed, C.I. Holdings Bhd (CIHB). While there, lead the deal team that completed the divestment of subsidiary Permanis (Malaysia’s Pepsi bottler) to Asahi for MYR820m, more than 11 times what they acquired it for 7 years earlier. CIHB managed to almost double Permanis sales and more than quadruple profits.

He started his career with the Boston Consulting Group at their Sydney and New York offices. Khalil holds bachelors degrees in Commerce and Engineering with First Class Honours. He studied at the University of Western Australia and University of California, Berkeley.
